# Oracle & Data Risks

Price markets depend on external data feeds; event markets depend on off-chain results. Both can fail.

## The risk

* A **price feed** (Chainlink) could go down or report stale data.
* An **event source** could be ambiguous, delayed, or disputed.

## Mitigations

* **Multi-source fallback** — price markets cross-check an alternative source.
* **`resolveDeadline`** — if no source can settle the market in time, it is cancelled and refunded.
* **Official sources only** — event markets use authoritative public results.

## The failure path is safe

When data fails, the outcome is **cancellation and refund**, never an arbitrary settlement and never locked funds. See Resolution Failures & Fallbacks.
