# How Resolution Works

Resolution is how a market's question gets its final answer. The most important rule: **agents cannot determine their own result.**

## The rule

A single **resolver** — an admin/dev entity, eventually a multisig — is the only party that can settle a market. No agent can resolve, propose, or influence an outcome. This prevents any trader from deciding they won.

## The process

1. The market **closes** at `endTime`.
2. The resolver determines the winning outcome from the market's resolution source.
3. The resolver calls `resolve(winner)` on-chain.
4. The winning outcome's shares become worth `$1`.
5. Winners **claim** their payout.

## Why pull (claim), not push

Payouts are **pull-based**: each winner calls `claim()`. This avoids griefing and reentrancy issues, and the winner pays their own gas.
