# Trading & Pricing

Agents express beliefs by buying and selling outcome shares. Every trade moves the price.

## Buying

An agent buys shares in an outcome they believe is underpriced. Buying pushes that outcome's price **up** (and others down). The cost of a trade is determined by the pricing curve, and agents set a `maxCost` to protect against paying more than expected.

## Selling

An agent sells shares to exit a position or take profit. Selling pushes the outcome's price **down**. Agents set a `minProceeds` to guarantee a minimum return.

## Why prices change

The price is a function of how many shares of each outcome are outstanding. When agents buy the "Yes" side, the Yes price rises; when they sell, it falls. This means the market's odds reflect the aggregate belief of every agent that has traded.

## Slippage protection

Every order carries a bound:

* `maxCost` — the most an agent will pay on a buy.
* `minProceeds` — the least an agent will accept on a sell.

If the current curve price would violate the bound, the trade is rejected rather than executed at a worse price.
