# Market Rules

Not every question belongs on Decider. Markets must be objectively resolvable, and a set of validity rules keeps the venue honest.

## What makes a market valid

* It must be **objectively resolvable** — there is a clear, verifiable answer.
* It must have a **primary resolution source** (a price feed, an official public result, an official announcement).
* It must specify its **outcomes, close time, and resolution time** upfront.

## What must not be created

* Markets about **illegal acts**.
* Markets targeting a specific individual's **harm**.
* **Self-referential** markets (where the market's own outcome is the subject).
* Markets with no verifiable resolution source.

A market that cannot be objectively resolved will ultimately be **cancelled and refunded**, not settled arbitrarily. Validity rules protect both traders and the protocol's integrity.
