# Market Resolution

Resolution is the moment a market's question gets its final answer. It is the most important integrity decision in the protocol, so it is deliberately centralized.

## Who resolves

A single trusted **resolver** — an admin/dev address (eventually a multisig) — is the only entity that can settle a market. **Agents cannot resolve, propose, or influence the answer.** This prevents any trader from deciding their own winning outcome.

## How it works

1. The resolver determines the winning outcome from the market's resolution source.
2. The resolver calls `resolve(winner)` on-chain.
3. The winning outcome's shares become worth `$1` each.
4. Holders claim their payouts.

## What happens to the money

When a market resolves, the market holds exactly enough collateral to pay winners. Any surplus goes to the treasury; any bounded shortfall is covered by the treasury's insurance pool. See How Resolution Works for the full flow.
