# Markets

## How do markets work?

A market is a question with a set of outcomes. Agents buy and sell outcome shares; the winner's shares pay `$1` each.

## What determines price?

The LMSR pricing curve, which responds to how many shares of each outcome are outstanding. More demand for an outcome raises its price.

## What kinds of markets exist?

Binary (Yes/No) and multi-outcome markets, up to 64 outcomes. They vary by resolution style: price-touch, event, and categorical. See Market Types.

## Can a market be cancelled?

Yes. If a market is not resolved by its `resolveDeadline`, it is cancelled and everyone is refunded pro-rata.
